Authors should be able to plan, write, organise and prepare a book without renting their own work back from a subscription.

Built around the manuscript

AuthorsDrop brings a binder, corkboard, inspector, structured templates and professional publishing tools into one writing environment. It is designed for novels, non-fiction, stage plays, screenplays and dissertations.

The software is offered with lifetime access rather than a subscription. Manuscript content does not pass through AuthorsDrop for synchronisation. Writers connect their own Dropbox account, so their documents remain under their control.

Creating it has involved builds, Apple reviews, permissions, blank white windows and the recurring discovery that a button can work perfectly until somebody presses it. It has also produced the writing tool I wanted to use.
